Recently, I attended the ISPA conference at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. I enjoy this conference very much, as I am able to see and chat with friends/business associates in the industry that I don’t have the opportunity to see on a regular basis.

I also typically get an opportunity to peruse the exhibition area and scope out the latest in beauty and health trends. There is an excitement in the air, as vendors and business owners educate the spa owners, directors and managers in hopes that they will decide their spa and its clientele will benefit from their particular product line.

There are numerous pretty faces and bodies present at this conference that have an appearance of perfection. What I have noticed, however, is that I am more drawn to an unconventional beauty and find it much more compelling. So, then why do I find myself at times looking in the mirror with a critical eye, instead of embracing my flaws? Everyone has them, even those individuals who appear to have cookie cutter features—I can make alterations to my exterior, but until I feel fully secure in who I am as a person, none of that matters. Beauty truly is a total package, and is the ability to have strength, character, confidence and strong presence—while still being humble.

“If an egg is broken by an outside force, life ends—If an egg is broken by an inside force, then life begins”….Moral: Great things happen from the inside!

Today, I will be grateful for the total package that I am and be strong enough to accept and embrace that package.
